Another reboot – pulling out of Facebook

I'm back (again)

Having recently pulled out of Facebook myself (lost password, noticed stress levels dipped markedly when not checking it, decided not to reset password) the news that the Guardian and the BBC have pulled out of its Instant Articles initiative resonates.

Relying on a platform to communicate with the world is never a good idea, especially when it’s one that can change the rules of engagement to the extent that Facebook can on seeming whims. I still remember the secret mood experiments the company did with a test sample size of 689,000 people back in 2014 with a shudder (I’ll let the Gruaniad have a link to that directly: here).
